What do we mean when we say a wine tastes like flint?
What do we mean when we say a wine tastes like flint?

Hello, I'm the Wine Smeller, which is a funny way of saying I'm a person who really likes wine! Not only do I like wine, but I’ve made a career out of it. You can find me working in Worcester, at a little independent wine bar as the store supervisor and wine tasting coordinator.

Why Wine Smeller? Well, when my brother was trying to tell someone else that my dream was to become a trained sommelier (fancy term for wine expert), he couldn't quite remember the term and thus boiled down my ambition to this hilarious, yet accurate, phrase. Since that day, I have been unceremoniously named Wine Smeller by my whole family whenever they talk about my current career in the drinks industry.

The other question to then ask is why winesmeller.com? One of my other passions, aside from wine, is creative writing, and through that writing, I hope to share my love of fermented grapes with as many people as possible. If just one person reads this blog and enjoys a bottle of wine that I have suggested, this whole exercise of writing into the digital void will all be worth it.

Thanks for stopping by,

The Wine Smeller
